All swimmers, Coaches/Team Managers please ensure all swimmers are aware. Please ensure you read ALL of this and understand the consequences of not adhering to recent suit changes in swimming. You may have heard about the swimming suit debate. Fina have been looking at suits and the possible advantages gained by certain types. This has been bought about with the numbers of world records being broken by swimmers wearing certain suits. There is now a published list of suits passed for use in competition along with other rule changes regarding suits. It is unlikely that the suit type will effect any Crusaders swimmers but it is advisable to be aware if you are about to purchase a racing suit/costume or have a costume you are unsure about. The significant thing for every Crusaders swimmer is the ruling on the number of suits worn in competition. Please ensure you wear 1 suit only in competition regardless of style and make. This means that boys cannot wear trunks under leg skins. I was approached at a recent Open meet and advised that a swimmer was not complying with the changes. On Saturday at the Welch gala I was approached by the referee after the event advising that Crusaders swimmers were wearing more than one suit. Disqualification had been ignored due to the level of gala and everyone needing to be aware of the changes. It is highly likely that in future events swimmers will be disqualified. Please ensure you adhere to the one suit rule. There will continue to be adaptations to these rules over time as some advantageous suits are removed from competition. If you have any doubts about this please consult with your coach.
